Business

Some political science students will choose to pursue a Master of Business Administration (MBA) after they finish their BA. However, there are also many jobs available in the business sector for political science students with a Bachelor of Arts.

Political science courses can help students to develop skills and knowledge that will be beneficial for the business world. Companies are often looking for individuals with strong verbal and written communication skills. Political science courses involve a great deal of reading and writing, so students improve in these areas as they progress through the degree program. It is also helpful for students with an interest in business to have some quantitative analytical skills. Some political science courses such as those in research design, mass political behavior, and election analysis can help to develop those skills.

Political science majors will learn and refine their communication, critical analysis, problem solving, argumentation and many other skills that will be attractive to businesses. Additionally, political science students will have an in-depth knowledge of the intricacies of American and international governments that can be very beneficial in the business world.
